Filtration Functions
The first stage of filtration on the Holmes HEPA-Type Air Purifier is a HEPA filter, which eliminates and traps over 99% of all particles which are currently blowing around in the air. Breathing these particles in, such as dust mites, pollen, and animal dander - have all been scientifically proven to cause allergies, and annoying symptoms such as a runny nose, itchy eyes, and sneezing.
After the HEPA filter, the air passes through a carbon filtration stage, which works on a micro level to rid the air of smoke residue, and tiny chemical particles - which again can cause the symptoms above.
Finally, an ionizer gives the air a fresh smell and feeling, and helps to indirectly eliminate dust by making it stick to household surfaces - instead of floating freely around.
